What is the collective about?

A vibrant community of Berkshire County Potters coming together to share ideas, techniques, creative energy, knowledge and love of all things clay. We plan regular meeting and encourage ceramicists in the Berkshires and surrounding areas to come together for workshops, demonstrations, shows, sales and firings. Membership is open to everyone who shares a passion for pottery.

What type of ceramists are in the collective?

Ceramic artists showcase a diverse range of styles and techniques, each reflecting their unique creativity and skill. Some may specialize in functional pieces like dinnerware or planters, characterized by intricate glazes and elegant forms, while others focus on sculptural works that challenge traditional boundaries with abstract or whimsical designs. Raku artists often bring a sense of spontaneity to their work, employing a unique firing process that creates vibrant, unpredictable finishes. Additionally, some ceramicists embrace traditional hand-building or wheel-throwing methods, emphasizing craftsmanship and texture in artisanal pottery. Overall, their art can range from rustic and earthy to sleek and contemporary, catering to various tastes and preferences for collectors and enthusiasts alike.
