I love rocks. My love for sand & playing with shapes and dimensions is why I do ceramics. With a degree in fashion design, I have utilized my ceramic practice as a way of moving beyond sculpting only the human form in cloth. A pound of clay is like a yard of muslin; endless possibilities. As a being on earth, there are things I have no control over, like the weather, my shoe size & the pass of time. That is why I cherish & salute cloth & clay for their malleability. I appreciate the control I have over clay. However, I don’t fret much over my clay work…until it has to be glazed. That’s when things get serious. Color is everything. Other than that, I don’t think too hard at the wheel or while hand building. I know the steps, I can make the clay into anything! I like to make things that are useful, cute, and interesting. When it comes to ceramics, I take fun seriously, as in, I seriously have so much fun.
