From the moment I could hold a pencil and read the Sunday comics, I was captivated by the worlds of color and imagery. As a child, my Sundays were spent tracing and imitating the iconic art of Charlie Brown and other beloved comics, where I discovered a passion for creative expression. Over time, my artistic journey expanded through thrift store finds and estate sales, where I developed a love for the old and unusual.
Inspired by my time working in the agricultural fields of Berkshire County, MA, my earlier work reflected a deep connection to the land and its bounty. I later found a new artistic passion in ceramic art, particularly in the visceral, hands-on experience of the wheel.
The botanical motifs that I gravitate towards are reflective of my deep appreciation of the diversity of the natural world around me. I am fascinated by the inherent beauty that is often overlooked in the age of “plant-blindness” and I hope that my work contributes to the growing awareness of the precious plants and fungi that surround us.
The fusion of art and science is a driving force behind my creative process as both disciplines stem from a shared curiosity about the world and a need to engage with it.
Thank you for taking the time to engage with my work.
