I feel a certain freedom and a sense of peacefulness when I work with clay.   Every time I stare at a lump of clay, images of various wine and food jars in my great grandmother's home emerge from my deep memory.  I can still recall the shapes and colors of those jars sitting on top of her kitchen shelf.  These nostalgic memories form the foundation of my penchant for making lidded ceramic jars and functional pottery.  My current works include using stencil and slips for surface decoration, chattering and carving for texture.  Recently, I incorporated my love of drawing and sculpting into my ceramic work as part of the ornamentation.  I believe each piece of my work is a reflection of me and my appreciation for life.
